Thank you to those who let me know you read and enjoy these monthly posts. I didn't intend to cast aspersions on anyone. In fact, it turns out, my perspective couldn't have been more skewed.

In the world of self-publishing/marketing, a 50% rate of return (in this case: that half the emails I send out are actually opened) is pretty good. An interaction that is above average expectations, actually.

On top of that, maybe I should be reading what I write myself. In my last two issues I alluded to a new perspective on my writing (and life) goals: No expectations. It seems I'd forgotten that.

Mindfulness. Living in the moment. Que Será, Será. Having no expectations is akin to all that, and a mindset I've been cultivating to reduce stress, anxiety, depression or what-have-you, while increasing creativity and focus. It's a practice that requires daily attention. There are digressions, of course, as mentioned above, but for the most part it has been working.

In fact, this perspective has given me clarity into my writing such that I've come to an important decision.

Oh, what is it? you may ask.

What kind of writer would I be if I didn't instill a little suspense into my narrative? I will share and elaborate next month.
